Eva Sieburg
My name is Eva Sieburg, I’ve been living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for the past nine years, where I also attended the Cass Executive MBA programme 2014 – 2016. Currently, I work as the Head of Marketing for a regional SME that offers interior contracting and manufacturing services (at the moment we are called ‘Havelock AHI’, however, will re-brand as ‘Havelock One’ in the foreseeable future). I’m active with the City Alumni Network MENA, co-organising events in the UAE and extending support to other Alumni Ambassadors and the community in the region.
What are your stand out memories of studying at City?
Studying part-time at a satellite campus, it’s always much harder to develop that identity associated with a certain institution. However, City, University of London and Cass Business School have clearly put a strong emphasis on developing that feeling of belonging. Starting from the introduction weekend, where many inspiring professors flew in from London to engage us in small modules, to balancing the composition of lecturers throughout the programme between those usually teaching at 106 Bunhill Row and those sourced locally. The Cass MBA London Symposium re-emphasised that idea, that we are all part of something much bigger than just the Dubai Centre or just an MBA programme.
Where has the knowledge you gained at City taken you in your life and career?
The true quality of the Cass EMBA programme in my opinion is that it exposed me to all relevant knowledge and competent professors in a way I could rather easily integrate into my personal work-life-balance concept. The (unexpected) icing on the cake were the electives: One of them took me to Vietnam, where I was the only student from Dubai, joining the London Modular EMBA students for a week of consulting. I met the most wonderful people and I am still in touch with some of them. Actually, in two week’s time one of my fellow Alumni is going to visit me here in Dubai… So, it’s like City / Cass elevated my professional and my personal life in a rather holistic way.
