My name is Gozde Bicer, I live in North East London.
What are your stand out memories of studying at City?
I studied BSc Actuarial Science at City and in addition to my intense but interesting studies, what I remember most is the sense of acceptance and friendliness of the fellow students. It was so easy to join societies, clubs and teams and each group would add a whole new perspective and make a positive impact on my life in unique and exciting ways.
Additionally, I was awarded the Priya and Jason Downes Scholarship which meant that I was lucky enough to attend and participate in a number of talks and events where I had the opportunity to meet and network with a vast number of successful faculty members and professionals.
Where has the knowledge you gained at City taken you in your life and career?
My learning is undeniably the most valuable thing I had taken from City. The combination of the amazing professors, enthusiastic classmates and both theoretical and practical knowledge meant that I was able to secure an internship and a place on an amazing graduate scheme and got a head start in a number of professional qualifications.
I am now in the fourth year of my career in the Insurance industry and am still best friends with my classmates. Since graduation, we have continued studying, laughing and travelling together and I am so grateful to City for influencing both my life and career in such amazing ways.
