Professor Pam Parker, Deputy Director for the Department of Learning Enhancement and Development at City, has had a 20-year career of providing expert teaching and improving standards in higher education. Joining City in 2008, after previous teaching roles at Barts School of Health, Pam has guided the design of new programmes and curriculums, equipping colleagues with the skills they need to give high standards of assessment and feedback to students. Under her guidance, the Master’s in Academic Practise has become one of the best in the country. Working in both the School of Health Sciences and the City Law School, Pam has taught and developed students from undergraduate through to PhD level. Her focus on improving education standards and student enhancement has seen her work with other departments creating the then Student Voice Awards, now the Academic Impact Awards, with the Students’ Union. This was one of the first in the country where students led on recognising excellent teaching and service.In addition, Pam established City’s LEaDER research centre, to ensure that all educational development is informed by evidence, therefore providing the highest level of teaching possible to students.
